Day 271 Thursday 27th September:

More family history today. We went to a lovely village called Elham as some of the ancestors died in Elham Distric. We had a look around the church which was very old but well maintained. It had a magnificant organ at the back that actually covered the west door and was donated by one of the vicars.
We then went to look around Folkstone and found another church some other of our ancestors probably attended. When we got there children and mothers were coming out of the church obviously a playgroup or a creche.
We found a Street called St Eanswythe Way but we were looking for St Eanswythe Terrace. We then went back to the library and found the 1906 map and discovered that Terrace had been changed to Way at some time, so that solved that mystery.
We went back to Elham for our evening meal, which again was very good. I had Plaice and Roland ate lamb shank.

I don't know if you can see the "statue" on top of the building.
It was the only one we saw and I have no idea why it was there.

  2. Really beautiful photos, Viv! Greetings! I noticed a bird on the roof of neighboring house! Two things - the statue and the bird perched next to each other.
Thanks for the comment on my blog! Have a nice day - today is Saturday tomorrow. Joke!
