I don't know where my head is this week. Every day, at some time, I have thought we were on a different day to the one it really was. Today Roland and I were talking about whether football was on tonight and I said I didn't think football was on on Friday.
I went to my old school this morning as they were having a memorial for the old head as she was the one who started the school right from being involved with the plans for building it.
I joined it in 1976 as a part time teacher to share a class with the head so she could do her administration. I joined at Easter and my (now best friend) joined in September. The school was then only an infant school and we only had an average of 15 children in each class. The 3 classes were family units then so we all had children from 4 - 7.
It was before national curriculum and we were able to teach the children the different subjects in our own way. All the children left the school being able to read something. The school was open plan with a craft /play area in the centre so the children could mix among the classes.
I'm having a real reminisce here. Next year I'll write more about what we used to get up to.
Irene, the head, was a real tarter and didn't like me being there as I wasn't Catholic and because of the college I trained in. She was told by the Education department it was me or no one. Not a good start but the school was less than 5 mins walk from where I lived so it was very convenient for me. Because she was like that, the staff united together and became good friends.
Paint
Roland said I was to tell you he had painted this.
(He wishes)
We bought this oil painting from the artist when we first got married.
It hangs over our fireplace.
