Day 293 Friday 19th October:

We managed to visit Nikki today to take Sian her belated birthday present. We haven't seen them for a while so we expected her to be shy, but as soon as she saw me she put her hands out to me and I got a lovely cuddle. She was tired and fell asleep on my knee. Before that we opened her parcel but she didn't seem too enthusiastic but Nikki texted me a picture later with her in it.

The incident in Bamber Bridge yesterday turned out to be Phospherous hand grenades left over from the 2nd World War. They had been left there in the cellar by the Home guard and forgotten about. The printers had never been down in the cellar but they had some damp and got some workmen in to look for it. The workmen disturbed a canister and the phospherous burnt them.
The firemen found more grenades in the cellar and now have removed them and destroyed them.
The men who were burnt are being treated in the hospital but there were also workmen ambulance men and fire men who inhaled the gas  and had to be treated for breathing problems.
A fire engine was still at the printing shop last night.

Black and White

Landscape.

A view of Mt Teide when we were on our holidays in Tenerife.

When we got home from seeing Nikki and Sian it was so nice we went for a walk in the park.
It was difficult to take black and white pictures as the leaves are such lovely colours.

A Sky for Anne
We have had so much grey overcast skies this year so I have to take pictures like this when I see them.
They remind me of when I was a girl and our house was in the middle of fields.
My friends and I used to lie in the fields and watch the clouds changing shape and see pictures made by them.
Funny, It always seemed to be sunny then.

  1. Ahh yes, it was sunny all the time!, I liked the black and white photos of here but not so sure about B&W of a hot country, I tried them for a photo challenge once and they didn't work for me..x

  2. I really have decided B&W don't work for landscapes do they? We really need to see colours

Doesn't Sain look gorgeous in her fairy dress, a pity you didn't see her wear it when you were there!!

  3. lovely photo of the fairy princess :) I noticed the autumn colours on the trees when I took my photos too and the sky photo is great. Thanks for the update on the accident too, hope everyone heals soon, will have to tell Daniel about it in the morning as they are doing about the 2nd world war at school.

    1. You can tell him that apparently they were given these hand grenades because they self ignited when they were thrown.
I don't know if that was true but I am going to look it up
